Christina Windsor, principal at Bayside-Martin Luther King School and North Bay School was fired Thursday by Sausalito's superintendent, Rose Marie Roberson, but has continued to show up for work, Windsor's attorney said yesterday.

Attorney Amanda Metcalf said Windsor was purportedly fired because she did not have the appropriate credentials.

Windsor was hired by the school in July 1999 and had a three-year contract.

Windsor feels her lack of credentials are just a front for the real reasons she was fired. She said it was her assertiveness and leadership style may have clashed with the board members.

The board had recruited Windsor from Iowa where she did not have to maintain a teaching credential to work as a principal. Windsor was later asked to produce the required administration credentials to the Marin County Schools administration in August 1999 but was not asked to show a teaching credential.

Metcalf said Windsor was asked to take a test for a credential but was on vacation. She said this had something to do with her purported firing.
